The Caribbean

Comprising many islands, the Caribean depends on Tourism, offshore finance and service industries are important sources of income - more so since a centuries-old but loss-making sugar industry was wound down in 2005 with the loss of hundreds of jobs.

Before the visitor influx, banana exports sustained parts of the Caribean, Other crops such as mangoes and avocados are also grown, but bananas are the biggest source of foreign exchange after tourism.
