Originally inhabited by the Maori tribes, New Zealand is made up of two islands (North and South), Stewart Island, Chatham Island and numerous smaller specks of land. It became self governing in 1907. New Zealand is a very mountainous country with some large coastal plains, and extensive grazing land. The glaciers, geysers and rainforests are popular tourist attractions and New Zealand depends heavily on tourism for income.
