I agree that Surrey History Centre's catalogue is brilliant - and most of it isn't on A2A - but when I've used it, it doesn't seem to like * for wildcard searches. There are lots of entries on the original paper catalogues which eluded me when using the online search engine because of all the spelling variations. Broomfield, for example appears as Bromfield, Brumfeild etc and possibly Broomfylde (so potentially EIGHTEEN different spellings, i.e. 18 different searches)

One of the "Home Counties", and situated between the South Coast and London, it has been very important politically since the time of the Romans. Surrey is a rich, fertile county, with countless square miles of farmland, deciduous woodland, and rolling downs, as well as vast tracts of pine forest and heathland.

Guildford is the county town; with the remains of its 12th century Norman Castle, and modern-day cathedral, topped by a golden angel. Kingston-upon-Thames is probably historically more famous as being where seven Saxon kings were crowned. The Coronation Stone can still be seen in the old town centre, where ancient buildings sit alongside the modern shopping centre.

Surrey is full of historic country estates and gardens, picturesque villages with thatched cottages and working mills. Lewis Carroll often stayed with his sister at Guildford where he died in 1898.

It should be noted that Croydon, Sutton, Cheam, Coulsdon, & Purley, although technically in Surrey, are now part of Greater London and are all in London boroughs so not covered by Surrey County Council. Kingston is a Royal borough and, although Surrey County Council HQ is in Kingston, it too is a London borough.
