Family Tree Maker can be used to create a free website, this allows you to share your findings and link to other researchers who can view your website.

As well as names and dates, notes, images, books and reports can be added to the site and for those with a sense of adventure it is also possible to add a link to a video.

Creating a homepage takes just a few minutes and a couple of mouse clicks, the style of the homepage can be selected and changed as often as you wish, updating the homepage is a simple task and again can be achieved in just a few moments.

Visitors to your site can view any item you have placed online; You should therefore only include details you are happy to reveal on the internet, additionally you must always ask permission before including the names of living people on your website.

If you have any doubts about whether to include details/names then DO NOT place them online, you can always update the site at a later date, better to be safe than sorry
