2 year old boy in tartan dress. Jill on the A272	Boys were dressed in dresses until well past toddlerhood, tartan being a popluar choice for them. He also wears an enormous buckled belt.

Working class country girls. Submitted by Jill on the A272.	The girls' grandmother (b1850) lived with them and had been a seamstress. She made all their knickers (not visible!) in the style of her own girlhood, with a flap that buttoned onto the waistband - this resulted in "accidents" for the younger girls who found the fastenings difficult. The old lady died in 1928.
