Polwarth

A stone within the church walls states that the site has been home to a church since at least 900AD. The current Polwarth Parish Church dates to the early 1700's and replaces the previous church of "Poulworth". The crypt is the vault of the Hume family, and also the hiding place of the fugitive Patrick Hume (implicated in a plot to kill Charles II). Internally the church was renovated and refitted between the two World Wars.
