Merioneth Historic County Map (source: Wikipedia)

Merionethshire is a coastal county in North West Wales.

Towns: Bala Blaenau Ffestiniog Dolgellau Barmouth

Industry: Agriculture, slate mining

Merionethshire is a very beautiful county, and possibly the most Welsh county of them all. The estuary at Barmouth, looking upwards towards the mountains, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful spots in the whole county.

The town of Barmouth grew around the shipbuilding industry, and more recently as a seaside resort. Harlech Castle stands high on the rock at Harlech.
