Isle of Wight
Isle of Wight
The island is the smallest county in England.
Known for its natural beauty, it is home to the Royal Yacht Squadron at Cowes, which hosts the world famous Cowes Week. It was home to poet Alfred Lord Tennyson and Queen Victoria who stayed at her much loved summer residence and final home Osborne House.
It has a rich maritime history in boat building and sail making, the manufacture of flying boats and the world's first hovercraft. It is also one of the richest fossil locations for dinosaurs, being known as Dinosaur Island.
