I am researching my Rankin ancestors and in particular descendants from :-

Bryce Rankin born about 1763 in Rothesay, Bute who married Mary McConnechy on 27 Mar 1788 at Rothesay and had 7 children including

Alexander born 26 Mar 1796, married 14 Aug 1821 to Mary McEwan and had 5 children including

Bryce, a druggist and surgeon, born 14 Jun 1823 in Rothesay and died 23 May 1865 in Glasgow.

He was married twice - first on 8 Sep 1845 to Janet Frew, chr 15 May 1825 at Old Monkland, Lanark and died at Glasgow on 21 Oct 1859.

His second marriage was on 23 Apr 1861 in Glasgow to Christina Littlejohn Millar, b 31 Jan 1830 in Glasgow. They had 3 children and the youngest, Clementina Emma Rankin b 8 May 1865 in Glasgow is my maternal grandmother.

Several distant Rankin relations were born and lived in Canada in the late 1880s.
