Forfar Cathedral now stands as a ruin, originally built in the late 1200's with numerous additions and alterations in the following two centuries. Stone from the building was used in the construction of the fort at Inverness by Cromwell. Although much of the original fabric of the building has been destroyed the remains are visible, unlike the buildings which were likely to have also been found on the site, these are believed to include workshops and guesthouse.
