St John The Devine was consecrated in 1796, a medieval church stood on the same site and was demolished around 1794. The church is quite small and sits centrally in the graveyard on the edge of the village, a quiet and peaceful place with a welcoming feel.

St Hilda was completed around 1873-4, a replacement for a building described some twenty years earlier as "unsafe for man and beast". The site is believed to have had five or possibly six churches erected in total and can lay claim to Saxon origins. The church sits just North of the river Waren and although quite near the A1 trunk road is a very quiet rural location.
