Situated in the centre of England, Leicestershire at one time included England's smallest county of Rutland.

Market Harborough's claim to fame is the invention of the liberty bodice and later other ladies undergarments.

Lady Jane Grey, the nine-days queen executed by Mary Tudor, lived part of her short life at Bradgate House in Charnwood forest near Leicester.
