Noted for its collieries and textiles, Nottingham lace being the finest around.

Nottingham’s famous inhabitants include Robin Bailey (actor), Eric Coates (composer), Torville and Dean (ice skaters) Harold Larwood (Cricketer), and D.H. Lawrence the author.
